Must-read for traveling with pets - FAQ

Before entering the light rail railway premises, passengers must have completely placed their pet cat or dog in a special pet carrier bag, suitcase, or backpack (pet bag) and completely closed or covered it to ensure that no part of the pet cat or dog is exposed.

The total dimensions of the pet bag (length, width, and height combined) must not exceed 170 centimeters, and no single side may exceed 130 centimeters in length.

Wheeled pet carriers or strollers are not permitted.

Pets must be kept on a leash or in a cage and an additional boarding fee must be paid before they are allowed to enter the cabin. It is recommended that you check with the relevant ferry operator in advance to confirm the latest regulations to avoid any disruption to your journey.

Hong Kong Airlines will launch Hong Kong's first “Fly with Your Pets” service in 2025, allowing passengers to bring small cats and dogs (with a total weight of no more than 8 kilograms including the pet carrier) into the aircraft cabin. Each passenger is limited to bringing one pet.

In addition to zippers, soft-material pet carriers should not have any metal attachments or decorations.
The dimensions of the pet carrier must not exceed 45 cm in length x 21 cm in height x 37 cm in width. The dog or cat must be able to sit upright, stand, turn around, and lie down naturally within the pet carrier.
The pet carrier must have escape-proof and leak-proof features to ensure the safety of your dog or cat during the flight and minimize disruption to other passengers.
The pet carrier must be securely sealed with tape, with a maximum gap of 2 centimeters between the zippers to allow for watering.
At least 16% of the vertical surfaces of the pet carrier must be designated for ventilation.

Each Uber Pet trip is limited to one pet. If you have multiple pets, please contact the driver partner in advance. The driver partner may decide whether to accept the trip.

All Uber Pet trips are subject to an additional fee of HKD 20.

Additionally, if your pet causes any unexpected incidents during the trip that require vehicle cleaning (e.g., defecating, vomiting, or damaging the vehicle), you may be required to pay the driver-partner a cleaning fee.

While road trips are considered a relatively safe way to travel with pets, the details can make all the difference! Secure your furry friend in a sturdy pet carrier to prevent them from moving around freely during the journey, which could cause distractions or other hazards. Remember: Never leave your pet alone in the car, even for just a few minutes. The temperature inside the car can rise or drop rapidly, posing a serious threat to their health.

Ensure proper ventilation inside the vehicle while driving, and carry a foldable water bowl and ample drinking water to allow your pet to stay hydrated at all times. If using a pet car seat, it is recommended to choose a model certified for safety (such as ECE R129) for added peace of mind during your journey.
